Carlton Colville Town Council has been fortunate enough in recent years to benefit from the insights of a Youth Council to get the perspectives and ideas of young people in the town.
The aim was to improve the youth facilities in a realistic and practical way with the input of today's youth
The Youth Council was set up by teenagers aged between 14 and 18 and was supervised by the Town Council.
The Youth Council also ran in conjunction with the IMPACT Detached Project (IMPACT stands for; Inspire & Motivate young People to Achieve Confidence Together), you can find more about IMPACT Detached at www.impactdetached.org/
Thanks to the hard work of the Youth Council they were able to survey pupils from both Pakefield and Sir John Leman High Schools to gain an understanding of what young people would like to see in the local area. The information gained from the questionnaire has helped in forming plans for play parks and open spaces throughout the Carlton Colville area.
One of the main aspects of this plan is the implementation of a 'Community Hub' which would provide facilities for all age groups across the Carlton Colville and would ensure that there was provision for young people to have somewhere to meet and socialise.
More information on this exciting project will be forthcoming in 2017 - watch this space!
