Are you a life-saver?

Did you know that over 7,000 units of blood are needed nationally every day by hospitals to treat people suffering from a wide range of ailments and injuries?

Blood is needed for patients undergoing treatments for cancer, people who have been involved in accidents and by women who experience complications during childbirth, to name but a few.

We lose about 200,000 blood donors every year because of medical conditions, moving or pregnancy.   So there is a constant need to attract new donors.

Anyone wanting to donate blood for the first time should be aged between 17-65, weighing at least 50 kg (7 stone 12lbs) and in general good health.

Those who have donated before can start again up to their 70th birthday and there is no upper age limit for donors who have donated in the last two years.

Blood donor sessions are held in Carlton Colville, Lowestoft, Kessingland and Beccles plus many other locations across Norfolk and Suffolk.

For further information, and to book an appointment to give blood locally, please contact the 24-hour donor helpline on 0300 123 23 23 or log on to www.blood.co.uk
